After a period of time any faucet will need some maintanenace. Maybe you notice that the amount of water is reduced or the aerator breaks the water in 2 streams. Some sink faucet surfaces are prone to water stains, etc. No matter what type of  faucet they all need some basic maintenance from time to time. It is really not hard to keep your faucets going a lifetime if you remember what to do.

Different styles of faucets for kitchen and bathroom are cleaned differently, and cleaning them inappropriate may damage to the taps. So how to clean it

Both internal and external cleaning must be done.

Clean the plating surface of the copper faucet, wash it with boiling water and dish washing liquid, or wash it directly with some degreased detergent.

With limescale or rust on the faucet, just wipe the surface with a damp cloth or sponge and a little special detergent, then wipe it with a clean rag or rinse it off with water.

Do not wipe the surface of the taps with a hard object such as stainless steel sponges. Because they are very hard, it is easy to scratch the surface of the faucet tap. Use use a neutral detergent for cleaning, not a strong acid or alkaline cleaner. Use a soft-bristled toothbrush or a microfibre cloth with the toothpaste to remove limescale and oil.

In addition, many people only notice the surface of the faucet when cleaning, but in fact the inside of the tap is more important. If the water output of the faucet is reduced or the water break in two, it may be caused by a blockage of the bubbler. You could remove the bubbler and then soak it in vinegar, cleaned with a small brush or other tool, and reinstalled, then everything will be okay.

The maintenance of the faucet is very important, you can master the following four essentials:

1. Do not use excessive force when switching faucet tap. 

2. The metal hose of the faucet should be kept in a natural stretch state. Do not coil it on the tap when not in use. 

3. After using for a period, if the amount of water is found to be reduced, the screen cover can be gently unscrewed of the faucet to remove impurities. 

4. If you are not comfortable using powertools to install your faucet. Please hire a professional to do so. Improper installatioan can end the life of a faucet early.

Occasionally, the home faucet for both kitchen and bathroom will be leaky, blocked, etc. due to the long service life and improper use of the taps, which makes many people feel very troubled, especially when the maintenance can't arrive in time.

1. Tap water output reduced or waterstream irregular. 

Possible causes: The Aerator is probably blocked by limestone or other small particles. 

Solution: Remove the aereator and clean the debris.

2. Leak when the faucet rotates 

Possible cause: During the use of the faucet, it may be normal to wear or break due to long-term swinging of the O-ring. It is only necessary to replace the O-ring. (The red arrow points to the O-ring mounting location)

3. Kitchen faucet counter top leaking 

Check: Whether the faucet base covers the mounting hole and the O-ring at the rotation is worn. 

Solution: Reinstall the faucet or replace the corresponding seal ring, O-ring, etc.
